Malaccan tin ingots in theNational History Museum ofKuala Lumpur.

Tin ingots (Chinese:斗锡) were a trading currency unique toMalacca.

Cast in the shape of a peck, ordou in Chinese, eachingot weighs just over 1 pound (0.45 kg). Ten blocks made up one unit called asmall bundle, and 40 blocks made up onelarge bundle.

Details of tin production inearly Malacca were recorded in the 1436 bookDescription of the Starry Raft byFei Xin, a translator of AdmiralZheng He.
