TheTimor oriole (Oriolus melanotis) is a species ofbird in the familyOriolidae. It isendemic to theLesser Sundas, where it is found onTimor,Rote andSemau Islands. Its naturalhabitats are subtropical or tropical dryforests and subtropical or tropical mangrove forests.
TheWetar oriole (O. finschi), found onWetar andAtauro Islands, was originally described as a separate species but was later reclassified as a subspecies. However, more recent revisions to theIOC World Bird List have found it to be a distinct species. The two species were formerly grouped together asolive-brown oriole.[2]
