TheTimor cicadabird (Edolisoma timoriense) is apasserine bird in the familyCampephagidae that is found on the islands ofLembata,Alor andTimor in Indonesia. The species was formerly considered to beconspecific with the common cicadabird, now renamed theSahul cicadabird.
The Timor cicadabird wasformally described in 1878 by English ornithologistRichard Bowdler Sharpe based on a specimen collected byAdolf Bernhard Meyer on the island ofTimor, Indonesia. Sharpe coined thebinomial nameEdoliisoma timoriense.[1][2] The Timor cicadabird was formerly treated asconspecific with the common cicadabird (now renamed theSahul cicadabird) (Edolisoma tenuirostre). It has been elevated to species status based on the differences in morphology and amolecular phylogenetic study published in 2018.[3][4]
