Tim Long (born June 14, 1969) is a comedy writer born inBrandon, Manitoba, Canada. Long callsExeter, Ontario, his home town and has written forThe Simpsons,Politically Incorrect,Spy magazine and theLate Show with David Letterman. Currently credited as a consulting producer onThe Simpsons, Long was - until Season 20 - credited as anexecutive producer. His work has also recently appeared inThe New York Times andThe New Yorker. He also wrote the episode "Mr Roboto" for YTV'sMr. Young.

Long was also a consulting writer onThe Simpsons Movie.

He attended high school at South Huron District High School inExeter, Ontario,Canada.

Long graduated fromUniversity College at theUniversity of Toronto with a major in English Literature and pursued graduate studies in English atColumbia University. He was an intern atSpy magazine under E. Graydon Carter before joining the staff ofThe David Letterman Show, where he wrote for three years, including one year as Head Writer. He has won five Emmy awards, and been nominated for eight others.
