Tilloy-lez-Marchiennes (French pronunciation:[tilwalemaʁʃjɛn], literallyTilloynearMarchiennes) is acommune in theNorddepartment in theHauts-de-Franceregion, NorthernFrance.[3] In 2018, it had a population of 516.

In March 2020,Marie Cau won a majority of votes in the first round of the mayoral election (with the entire municipal council also being members of herelectoral list) on a platform of developing social and environmental policies likesustainable agriculture.[4][5][6] Her inauguration was delayed until May due to theCOVID-19 pandemic.[7][4][6] Her election as the first known openlytransgender mayor in France[7][4] garnered international media coverage.[8] She stepped down in January 2025,[9] and was succeeded by Catherine Vandewalle.[1]
