TheTihamah Resistance is an armed group formed by locals of Yemen'sTihamah Region,[3] aiming to resist Houthi control of the west coast region of Yemen. The group was formed in 2014, when HouthisseizedAl Hudaydah and the rest of North-WesternYemen. The group was active in 2015 at the start of the war, participating in theBattle of Taiz on the side of the pro-Hadi coalition.[4][5][6][7][8] In December 2017, the group took part in theAl Hudaydah governorate offensive, alongside UAE, Saudi, Hadi loyalists andSouthern Movement fighters.[9][10][11][12] The group is closely aligned withTareq Saleh'sNational Resistance, and theGiants Brigades.[2]
