Thrinkophyton was a genus ofEarly Devonian land plant with branching axes.[2] Known fossils are ofLochkovian toPragian age (420 to 411 million years ago).[3]
A cladogram published in 2004 by Crane et al. placesThrinkophyton in the core of aparaphyleticstem group of broadly defined "zosterophylls", basal to thelycopsids (living and extinct clubmosses and relatives).[4]
