Thomas Yassmin (/ˈjæzmɪn/YAZ-min;[1] born 21 October 1999) is an Australian professionalAmerican footballtight end for theLos Angeles Chargers of theNational Football League (NFL). He playedcollege football for theUtah Utes.

Early life

Yassmin originally played rugby at Scots College in Sydney, Australia, where he was also selected on the wing for the Australian Schoolboys rugby side.[2] Yassmin decided to playgridiron football in the United States for thecollege football team theUtah Utes.[3][4]

College career

In Yassmin's first season in 2018, he redshirted and did not appear in any games.[5] In Yassmin's next two seasons in 2019 and 2020 he played in 16 games while making just two tackles as a special teamer.[6] During the 2021 season, Yassmin only recorded one reception for six yards.[7] In the 2022 regular-season finale, Yassmin notched a 41 yard touchdown as he helped the Utes take down their rivalColorado.[8] In the2022 Pac-12 Championship, Yassmin caught a pass which he took 60 yards for a touchdown in a win overUSC.[9] During the 2022 season, Yassmin hauled in 13 receptions for 301 yards and six touchdowns.[10] In week seven of the 2023 season, Yassmin suffered a season-ending injury.[11] Yassmin finished the 2023 season with eight receptions for 89 yards and a touchdown.[12]

Denver Broncos

Yassmin went undrafted in the2024 NFL draft and signed with theDenver Broncos afterwards.[14] He was then selected in the second round (14th overall) in the2024 CFL global draft by theHamilton Tiger-Cats two days later. He was assigned the Broncos' exempt/international roster spot as part of theInternational Player Pathway Program (IPPP).[15]

On 27 August 2024, Yassmin was waived by the Broncos.[16] The next day, he was re-signed to the practice squad.[17] He signed a reserve/future contract with Denver on January 13, 2025.[18] On May 12, Yassmin was once again waived by the Broncos.[19]

Los Angeles Chargers

On August 7, 2025, Yassmin signed with theLos Angeles Chargers.[20] He was waived on August 26 as part of final roster cuts and re-signed to the practice squad the next day.[21][22]
