Thomas Mompesson (1630–1701), ofMompesson House, The Close,Salisbury andSt Martin's Lane,Westminster, was an English politician. He enteredLincoln's Inn in 1648, and was called to the bar in 1654.
He was aMember (MP) of theParliament of England forWilton in 1661, forSalisbury in March 1679, October 1679, 1695 and the period 6 January – 11 June 1701, forOld Sarum in 1681, 1685 and 1690, and forWiltshire in 1689.[1]
As aWhig and a formerColonel in theWiltshire Militia, as well as a member of theHonourable Artillery Company of London, he was re-appointed to command theRed Regiment of Wiltshire Militia after theGlorious Revolution.[1][2]
He was buried inSalisbury Cathedral.
