Thomas Victor Longo (February 21, 1942 – July 2, 2015) was an American professionalfootballdefensive back who played three seasons in theNational Football League (NFL) with theNew York Giants andSt. Louis Cardinals. He was selected by thePhiladelphia Eagles in the fourteenth round of the1965 NFL draft. He was also selected by theOakland Raiders in the eleventh round of the 1965 AFL Redshirt Draft. Longo playedcollege football at theUniversity of Notre Dame.
Thomas Victor Longo was born on February 21, 1942, inLyndhurst, New Jersey. He attendedLyndhurst High School.[1]
Longo first playedquarterback, thenrunning back and defensive back for theNotre Dame Fighting Irish.[2]
Longo was selected by thePhiladelphia Eagles with the 188th pick in the1965 NFL draft. He was also selected by theOakland Raiders in the eleventh round of the 1965 AFL Redshirt Draft.[1]
Longo played in 27 games, starting fourteen, for theNew York Giants from 1969 to 1970.[1][2] He played in two games for theSt. Louis Cardinals in 1971.[1]
Longo was active with the NFL Retired Players Foundation.[2] He died ofmesothelioma on July 2, 2015.[3]
