Thiago Teixeira Simon (born April 3, 1990 inPenápolis) is a Brazilian swimmer.[1][2]

International career

2014–16

At the2014 South American Games inSantiago,Chile, Simon won a silver medal in the200-metre individual medley, and a bronze medal in the400-metre individual medley.[3][4]

At the 2014José Finkel Trophy inGuaratinguetá, Simon broke the short-course South American record in the 200-metre breaststroke, with a time of 2:04.28.[5]

At the2015 Pan American Games inToronto,Canada, Simon won a gold medal in the200 metre breaststroke, with a time of 2:09.82, new Pan American Games record. He also won a gold medal in the4×200-metre freestyle relay, by participating at heats.[6][7]

At the2015 World Aquatics Championships inKazan, Simon finished 29th in theMen's 200 metre breaststroke[8][9]

2016 Summer Olympics

At the2016 Summer Olympics, he competed in theMen's 200-metre breaststroke, finishing in 36th place overall in the heats.[10]

2016-20

On 13 September 2016, at theJosé Finkel Trophy (short-course competition), he broke the South American record in the 200-metre breaststroke, with a time of 2:02.58.[11]

At the2016 FINA World Swimming Championships (25 m) inWindsor, Ontario, Canada, he finished 9th in theMen's 200 metre breaststroke,[12] and 13th in theMen's 200 metre individual medley.[13]

At the2017 World Aquatics Championships inBudapest, he finished 19th in theMen's 200 metre individual medley[14] and 26th in theMen's 200 metre breaststroke.[15]
