The "theoretical system of socialism with Chinese characteristics" is a term and slogan theChinese Communist Party (CCP) uses to describe itsideology. It is also one of the four components ofsocialism with Chinese characteristics. Officially described as a scientific theoretical system, it consists ofDeng Xiaoping Theory,Three Represents,Scientific Outlook on Development, andXi Jinping Thought. It is officially described as the inheritance and development ofMarxism–Leninism andMao Zedong Thought.
The term was first put forward at the17th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party in October 2007 by General SecretaryHu Jintao.[1][2]
The theoretical system of socialism with Chinese characteristics consists ofDeng Xiaoping Theory, theTheory Three Represents, theScientific Outlook on Development, andXi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.[3] It is officially described as the inheritance and development ofMarxism–Leninism andMao Zedong Thought for the modern period.[4][5] It is one of the four components ofsocialism with Chinese characteristics, along with itspath,system andculture.[6]
