"The Pork Chop" is the first episode of thethirteenth season ofRuPaul's Drag Race.[1][2][3] It originally aired on January 1, 2021.
Thirteen new contestants enter the Werk Room. For the episode's main challenge, the contestants will face-off in Lip-Sync for Your Life battles. Joining RuPaul and Michelle Visage on the judging panel areCarson Kressley andRoss Mathews.
Joey Jay andKandy Muse lip-sync to "Call Me Maybe" byCarly Rae Jepsen. Kandy Muse is declared the winner.Denali andLaLa Ri lip-sync to "When I Grow Up" byThe Pussycat Dolls. LaLa Ri wins.Symone andTamisha Iman perform to "The Pleasure Principle" byJanet Jackson. Symone wins.Gottmik andUtica Queen lip-sync to "Rumors" byLindsay Lohan. Gottmik is declared the winner.Olivia Lux andRosé lip-sync to "Ex's & Oh's" byElle King. Olivia Lux wins.Elliott with 2 Ts,Kahmora Hall, andTina Burner lip-sync to "Lady Marmalade" byChristina Aguilera,Lil' Kim,Mýa,Pink. Tina Burner wins the lip-sync. The seven losing contestants are tasked with voting someone out of the competition.
The episode's title refers toVictoria "Porkchop" Parker, the first contestant to be eliminated on thefirst season ofDrag Race.[4]
Sam Damshenas ofGay Times said the episode was the season's best in 2023.[5]
