The Oakland Press is a dailynewspaper published inOakland County, Michigan with headquarters inTroy.[1] It is owned byMediaNews Group.[2][3] The local historical society traces its origins toThe Pontiac Gazette, founded in 1843.[citation needed] The paper has been published under various names, includingThe Pontiac Press, until it was namedThe Oakland Press in 1972.[4] Original editorials and reporting, including major-sportbeat writers, are also carried in the sister paperThe Macomb Daily.

The Oakland Press was previously owned by21st Century Media until its merger withMediaNews Group in 2013.[2][3]
