The fifth and final season ofThe Masked Singer Australia was announced in February 2023[1] and premiered onNetwork 10 on 11 September 2023.[2]
The fifth season series was filmed with a live audience between 13 June and 3 July 2023.[3]
The costumes were designed and created byAustralian Academy Award andBAFTA Award-Winning costume designerTim Chappel, who is best known for his work onThe Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert withLizzy Gardiner.[4]
ComedianDave Hughes, British singer-songwriterMel B, TV personalityAbbie Chatfield and radio personalityChrissie Swan returned to the judging panel from theprevious season.[5] Hughes is the only remaining original panellist.Osher Günsberg returned as host.
Before the season began, Network Ten revealed that the cast included a Hollywood heartthrob, aGrammy Award-winning international singer, a singer with almost 25 million albums sold, a singer with more than 1 million records sold, a performer with more than a billion streams, a reality TV star and a sportstar.[6] The cast were also revealed to have amassed a combined 20ARIA Awards and hold multiple platinum and gold-certified records.
The Wild Card twist fromthe previous season returned, with three "Wild Card" contestants to enter and perform later in the competition.[7]
