The Linguist (formerlyThe Incorporated Linguist) is the bimonthly journal of theUK'sChartered Institute of Linguists. The headquarters is inLondon.[1]

History and profile

The journal was established in 1962.[2]The Linguist includes news about CIOL, articles ontranslation andinterpreting,bilingualism and language use, as well as book reviews and current opinions.

The editor is Miranda Moore. The lateProfessorPeter Newmark was a regular contributor, whose wide-ranging column was entitled "Translation Now", as wasAndrew Dalby with "Notes in the Margin".
