The Deluge is an oil on canvasbiblicallandscape painting by the BritishartistJ. M. W. Turner, from 1805.[1] It features a vision of thebiblicalflood focused on ashipwreck.
It was first planned in 1804 and was originally acommission that fell through.[2] The painting was likely to have been first exhibited at Turner's studio inQueen Anne Street inLondon in 1805. It was later submitted to theRoyal Academy'sSummer Exhibition of 1813 atSomerset House.[3] Part of theTurner Bequest of 1856, it is now in the collection of theTate Britain, inPimlico.[4]
