"The Continental" is a dance to a song written byCon Conrad withlyrics byHerb Magidson,[1] and was introduced byGinger Rogers andFred Astaire in the 1934filmThe Gay Divorcee. "The Continental" was the first song to win theAcademy Award for Best Original Song. In the film it was sung by Ginger Rogers,Erik Rhodes andLillian Miles.[1][2]
