The Brocket Arms is a country inn inAyot St. Lawrence,Hertfordshire, England. According toHistoric England, thetimber-framed building is probably early sixteenth century,[1] although an earlier date has been claimed.[2]
The Brocket Arms is nearOld St Lawrence Church, and, was supposedly "the monastic quarters" for the church until theReformation.[3] Another claim is that it was a "stop off point for pilgrims" on their way toSt Albans Abbey.[2]
It is said to be haunted by a priest who was tried and hanged in the building.[3] Others say it is of a monk who hanged himself at the inn.[2]
