The Argyle Sweater is an American dailycomic strip written by Scott Hilburn, fromGarland, Texas. The strip has been syndicated byUniversal Press Syndicate (nowAndrews McMeel Syndication) since April 2008.[1]

The comic bears a strong resemblance toGary Larson'sThe Far Side comic, which Hilburn acknowledges.[2] In 2008, he told theHouston Chronicle, "There's no doubt that I was heavily influenced by Larson. He's one of the greats."[3] Hilburn also lists among his influences cartoons inThe New Yorker andNational Lampoon magazines as well as cartoonistsSam Gross,Tom Cheney, and Jack Ziegler.[3]
