The Altruists is an upcoming American television series written byGraham Moore about the collapse of cryptocurrency exchangeFTX. It will starJulia Garner andAnthony Boyle and is set to be released onNetflix.
The series centres aroundSam Bankman-Fried founder of the collapsed crypto exchangeFTX, and his business partnerCaroline Ellison.[1]
The eight-part limited series about the collapse of cryptocurrency exchangeFTX was written byGraham Moore who is also an executive producer, and co-showrunner alongside Jacqueline Hoyt, who is also an executive producer on the series. Executive producers also includeBarack Obama andMichelle Obama forHigher Ground, as well as Vinnie Malhotra,Lauren Morelli and Scoop Wasserstein for Scoop Productions.James Ponsoldt is an executive producer as well as director of the first episode. The series was commissioned byNetflix.[2]
The cast is led byJulia Garner asCaroline Ellison withAnthony Boyle portrayingSam Bankman-Fried. Garner also serves as an executive producer.[3] Additional cast members such asAlex Lawther,Madison Hu andMatt Rife joined the cast in July 2025.[4] In a September 2025 interview,Hudson Williams revealed that he had joined the cast in an undisclosed role.[5]
Filming began in July 2025 and was scheduled to last inVancouver into the fall of 2025.[6][7] Filming wrapped in November 2025.[8]
