Tequila Saya (テキーラさや,Tekira Saya) (born January 19, 1984) is a Japanese retiredprofessional wrestler best known for her tenure with the JapanesepromotionsIce Ribbon andOz Academy.[3]
As a freelancer, Saya was known for competing in various of theJapanese independent scene promotions. AtWAVE Young OH! OH! The Final ~ Young All Stars Thanksgiving, an event promoted bypro Wrestling Wave on December 15, 2016, Saya participated in anine-person battle royal also involvingAsuka,Maika Ozaki,Konami,Mochi Miyagi and others.[4] AtSKIP Beat Kawaguchi Vol. 3, an event promoted byAll Japan Pro Wrestling on May 7, 2017, Saya teamed up with Maruko Nagasaki in a losing effort against Azure Revolution (Maya Yukihi and Risa Sera).[5] AtManami Toyota's retirement show, an event promoted byOz Academy on November 3, 2017, Saya participated in agauntlet match in which Toyota faced 50 people. She was the first one to defeat the latter.[6] AtZERO1/Super Fireworks Hiroshima, an event produced bypro Wrestling Zero1 on November 18, 2018, she unsuccessfully challenged Risa Sera, Hide Kubota and Taru for theBlast Queen Championship.[7] Saya also participated in freelance shows, such asGake No Fuchi Joshi Pro Wrestling on December 24, 2019, where she teamed up withDDT Pro-Wrestling founderSanshiro Takagi to pick up a victory overMiyako Matsumoto andJiro Kuroshio in aintergender tag team match.[8]
Saya worked most of her short-term career forIce Ribbon. She made her professional wrestling debut atNew Ice Ribbon #708, an event promoted on February 13, 2016, going into atime-limit draw against Yuuka as a result of anexhibition match.[9] She is known for teaming up withGiulia as Burning Raw. AtNew Ice Ribbon #971 on July 15, 2019, they defeated Azure Revolution (Maya Yukihi andRisa Sera) to win theInternational Ribbon Tag Team Championship.[10] AtNew Ice Ribbon #1013 RibbonMania on December 31, 2019, Saya had her last match in the promotion, aretirement 45-person gauntlet match also involving notable opponents such asAkane Fujita,Cherry,Hamuko Hoshi,Banny Oikawa,Kaori Yoneyama,Ken Ohka,Itsuki Aoki,Matsuya Uno,Syuri,Miyako Matsumoto,Yuki Mashiro,Kyuri and many others.[11]
Since her retirement, she has appeared in some matches held by theP's Party branch of Ice Ribbon. The most recent took place on November 17, 2021, where she competed in a16-person gauntlet match won byRina Yamashita and also involvingTsukushi Haruka,Totoro Satsuki, Chie Ozora and others.[12]
Saya worked as a female talent in several events promoted byBig Japan Pro Wrestling. AtBJW Beer Garden Match on October 22, 2019, she teamed up withSuzu Suzuki in a losing effort against Ayumi Hayashi andTsukasa Fujimoto.[13]
