Tephriphonolite ortephri-phonolite is amafic tointermediateextrusiveigneous rock in composition betweenphonotephrite andphonolite.[1] It contains 9–14%alkali content and 48–57%silica content (seeTAS diagram).[2] Tephriphonolite is roughly equivalent totephritic phonolite of theQAPF classification.[3]
Tephriphonolite has been found, for example, atColli Albani volcano in Italy[4] and in theAsunción Rift ofParaguay.[5]
