Tenakee Seaplane Base (IATA:TKE,FAALID:TKE) is a state-owned public-useseaplane base located inTenakee Springs,[1] a city onChichagof Island in theHoonah-Angoon Census Area of theU.S. state ofAlaska. Scheduledairline service is subsidized by theEssential Air Service program.
TheNational Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2015-2019categorized it as ageneral aviation airport based on 657 enplanements (passenger boardings) in 2012 (thecommercial service category requires at least 2,500 enplanements per year).[2] As per theFederal Aviation Administration, this airport had 639 enplanements incalendar year 2008,[3] 617 enplanements in 2009, and 645 in 2010.[4]
Tenakee Seaplane Base has aseaplane landing area designated E/W which measures 10,000 by 7,000 feet (3,048 x 2,134 m). It also has ahelipad designated H1 with a wood surface measuring 76 by 66 feet (23 x 20 m).[1]
