TRIM family scope

[edit]

Thanks Arcadian for all your hard work in extending the{{transcription coregulators}} NavBox, but unfortunately it appears that onlyTRIM24,TRIM28,TRIM33, and TRIM65tripartite motif family members act ascorepressors. What these four members share in common is a PHD-BROMO domain which none of the other members of the TRIM family possess. The PHD-BROMO domain is also found in several other coregulators such asp300/CBP and is necessary for binding to thenucleosome and this interaction appears crucial to coregulatory action of these proteins. I hope you don't mind, but I propose to undo the expansion. Cheers.Boghog2 (talk)19:52, 22 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for catching that, and sorry for my error. --Arcadian (talk)21:34, 22 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No problem and thanks for your response. I wasn't sure myself until I read a few background articles. The function and mechanism of most of the TRIM family members remains somewhat unclear. Many could be transcription factors but as far as I can tell, this has not been demonstrated yet.Boghog2 (talk)22:17, 22 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
