I've used the general format of theArab-Israeli conflict template and changed it.Amoruso05:33, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Problems with duplication

[edit]

A lot of the massacres are duplicated in the main list as well as in multiple linked lists of terrorist attacks. For example, we are currently linking directly toMaxim restaurant suicide bombing in the list. It is also listed in the linked listList_of_massacres_committed_during_the_Al-Aqsa_Intifada and in the linked listList_of_Palestinian_Islamic_Jihad_suicide_attacks. I am not arguing against inclusion but rather that we should try to only include each event in the conflict once in the template. --Deodar04:38, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The reason I did it like that was because I wanted to highlight the main events - these suicide bombings weregenerally the biggest (some of the more famous ones, though it might always be arbitrary and own impressions) so I thought they deserved their own. We can leave it to the actual main lists but that will go for many events. For example, I did the same with 1948 massacres leaving both the list but Deir Yassen and Haddash convoy highlighted. I think, personally, there's enough room to have the big events highlighted on their own as well. The multiple lists are unavoidable since Islamic Jihad attacks were both before and after the al aqsa intifada for example. This is all historical edits by users who have made things as they are... that's why I put the islamic jihad attacks in the 1990's period (of course what we really need is an article describing the terrorist attacks during the oslo process which doesn't exist). People can access it and stop when they get to the year 2000's... same thing goes for assassinations in al aqsa intifada which includes for example operation wrath of God! Too difficult to avoid duplicates but IMO it's harmless... you think it's bad ?Amoruso05:33, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed new section

[edit]

We have "influences" with flags of countries listed underneath them. How about a section for influential international organizations like the Muslim Brotherhood. I know Hamas branches from this, but that is a very little mentioned fact in the MSM. It would be helpful to make that more explicit.Elizmr 17:32, 13 October 2006 (UTC)Whoops never mind I see that they are combined.Elizmr17:33, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure how relevant MB is currently but probably as relevant as Irgun and Lehi. --Deodar17:38, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You should read this section of the Hamas article -- how it was nurtured by Israel as an alternative to the PLO:Hamas#Before_1987_-_Palestinian_Islamic_activities_prior_to_the_creation_of_Hamas. --Deodar17:42, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hamas is a branch of the Muslim Brotherhood. Hamas is currently the party in power in the PA. How is that not relevant? And yeah, I'm aware of the history you post---not a great move IMO :=) (but thanks for your continuing attempts to educate me).Elizmr18:14, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Addition to title

[edit]

I think it would be nice if under the name Israeli-Palestinian conflict it will say "Part of the Arab Israeli conflict" and direct either to the template or the article.Amoruso00:47, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Comprehensive vs. usable

[edit]

This is so massive, it is hard to imagine it being appropriately used as a template on an article. Conversely, quite a bit is missing: for example, there is no listing here of UN Resolutions, and many articles related to the conflict are not linked. -Jmabel |Talk02:19, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed; it doesn't make sense that this template is twice the size ofTemplate:World_War_II. --Nucleusboy02:19, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Templates overlapping

[edit]

Could someone fix the problem ofTemplate:Israeli-Palestinian Conflict andTemplate:Arab-Israeli Conflict overlapping each other. Like inMunich_massacre#Other_resources. A basis for comparison can be found atKAWE#External_links, as the two more basic templates there do not overlap. -RoyBoy80000:38, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Remove Ze'evi

[edit]

I think that Ze'evi should be removed from the template. All the other persons in the Israeli section were either Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, IDF Chief of Staff, head of the Shabak, or director of the Mossad. Ze'evi fails to meet any of these criteria.

I will implement this change soon if no objections are raised. --Gabi S.23:08, 2 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Quartet on the Middle East

[edit]

I thinkQuartet on the Middle East would be added to section of Diplomacy (or Influence:) section. it is currently very important in mediation process and is main PNA budjet Supplier.--Mohsenkazempur (talk)23:36, 13 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

1985 PLO ships bombing

[edit]

Is this a reference to this incident?MS_Achille_Lauro#1985_hijacking

That's the only 1985 event I could find involving Palestinians and a ship. I'm also trying to find information on the other redlinked incident, now noted as Abu Hassan (ship). According to the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in May 2003 Israel seized an Egyptian fishing boat carrying a "Hizbullah explosives expert" bound for Gaza.[1] Should this be included in the template?Shoplifter (talk)10:49, 28 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know of anything matching that description. I suggest deleting it.Zerotalk11:16, 28 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I was thinking of linking up the ship incident since it was a widely publicized event which I presume warrants inclusion in the template (if that is what the link refers to). As far as the second thing, it seems minor in comparison to the other events in the template. I'm thinking it should be included in another article, perhaps one of those on theGaza blockade, if it isn't already. By the way, both of these are also included in theTemplate:Arab-Israeli conflict.Shoplifter (talk)11:42, 28 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure which ship bombing the redlink might refer to. The Rainbow Warrior was bombed by the French in 1985, but it's unrelated. Changing the link to the Achille Lauro would be OK as far as I can tell ("Achille Lauro hijacking" or similar). Cheers, --Dailycare (talk)15:09, 28 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've gone ahead and edited it according to your recommendation, in both templates. I've left the Abu Hassan incident untouched in the absence of consensus on whether to retain it or not.Shoplifter (talk)07:14, 29 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I think that you've carried out the right action. As far as what the redlink was supposed to refer to, the only other possibility that I can think of is that it was intended to point to incidents in which Israel sabotaged ships being used by the PLO. As far as I know, theAchille Lauro hijacking didn't actually involve a bomb threat    ←   ZScarpia  14:54, 29 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That sounds plausible and could possibly be included in the template as well, if there were such operations. I've written a stub forAbu Hasan (ship) to complete the current listing and provide some cursory insight into that event.Shoplifter (talk)08:52, 30 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

New section: Analysis

[edit]

I propose a new analysis section, with articles such as:

Comparisons between Israel and Nazi GermanyCriticism of IsraelMedia coverage of the Arab–Israeli conflictIsraeli criticism of the occupation of PalestineTimeline of anti-ZionismRacism in the State of PalestineRacism in IsraelAnti-PalestinianismThere was no such thing as PalestiniansCriticism of Hamas

As I do not know how, I would love someone to add this to the template.Scientelensia (talk)20:11, 11 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

What does it mean by including "Children" as participants?

[edit]

"Children" are perticipating in war against Israel, so "children" are the enemy of Israel?

I don't understand the intension behind adding "children" between warring parties and calling them "participants".Dark1618 (talk)13:20, 7 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Add individual

[edit]

these two Palestinian individual should be included:
