AWikipedia:WikiProject is agroup of people. The point of this tag is to help people figure out whether this set of pages is currently being used by a group of people. The pages associated with currently inactive and defunct groups arenot normally deleted, and whether there is an active group of people for a given set of pages is not a comment on whether the subject is objectively important to the world. Marking groups' activity levels has a purely practical goal: It helps other editors know where they'll likely find the help they need.
Pages with this template are placed into the appropriate category depending on the status selected as shown below:
