Refwidth defines the maximum column width of generated lists of footnotes. It's a replacement for the|colwidth= parameter of{{reflist}} that applies a specific column width to<references>...</references>,{{reflist}}, and{{notelist}}. It only has a limited amount of width presets due to a technical limitation ofWikipedia:TemplateStyles; template parameter values cannot be used as CSS values, but they can be used in CSS file names. When there are multiple lists of footnotes on a page, use{{refwidth}} only once and it will apply to each one. To give a{{reflist}} or a{{notelist}}showing a list of explanatory notes a different column width, use that template's first unnamed parameter|1= to provide a separate maximum column value in ems, such as30em.
