Station symbols

borough: Country administrative subdivisions.This entry must end with the name of a state or other subdivision that has an assignedISO 3166-2 code.
country: Country; this is displayed inline and used with{{coord}} when present.Must be in a format recognized by{{ISO 3166 code}}.
coordinates: Geographic coordinates. Use{{coord}} withdisplay=inline,title; for example:{{coord|dd|mm|ss|N/S|dd|mm|ss|E/W|display=inline,title}}. Traffic

passengers: Number of passengers using the station. In the reference, please make it clear if this figure is per day, per year, etc.

pass_percent: Percentage increase or decrease in usage
pass_rank: Rank by passenger traffic of the station compared to total number of stations within the system, e.g. 115 out of 421
mpassengers: Allows display of multiple passenger totals using{{Rail pass box}}

services: Allows inclusion of theTemplate:Adjacent stations boxes for named services.
services_collapsible: If set to1,yes orcollapsible, makes the boxes hidden (by default) in a dropdown and adds a show/hide button to the Services header

Location

map_type, map_overlay, AlternativeMap, map_alt, map_caption, map_size, map_dot_label, map_label_position: Allows inclusion of an image of the station location on a map (seemap and coordinates for details)
route_map: Allows inclusion ofroute diagram
map_state: Determines route map state ("expanded" or "collapsed").

Map and coordinates

The location map uses the value of the|coordinates= parameter. It was previously necessary to use individual parameters for latitude and longitude, but the format was obsoleted by an RfC in August 2016 (seeHelp:Coordinates in infoboxes).
TheISO 3166-1 alpha-2 orISO 3166-2 region code can often be determined automatically, based on thecountry= andborough= parameters. This can be overridden by specifyingregion:XX orregion:XX-ABC in the unnamed parameter after the coordinate values.

Customise which features are displayed:
- mapframe-point – Turn off display of point feature by setting tonone. Force point marker to be displayed by setting toon.Default:not specified

External style module

An external style module, typically a subpage ofModule:Adjacent stations, may be used to allow the modification of display parameters. (The obsolete{{S-line}} and related templates are still used for a few articles.) The|style= parameter is used to specify the name of the module subpage where the styling is defined; use the name of the subpage after the "/" as the value for the|style= parameter. For example,|style=BART will use theModule:Adjacent stations/BART module subpage.Module:Adjacent stations provides links and styling for many transportation-related templates.

The HTML markup produced by this template includes an hCard microformat, which makes the place-name and locationparsable by computers, either acting automatically to catalogue articles across Wikipedia, or via a browser tool operated by a person, to (for example) add the subject to an address book.
