Usage

[edit]

This is a template that was created to easily update every article with the 2014 AFC standings.

The teams should be sorted according to the NFL tiebreaking rules, as indicated by suchreliable sources asCBS Sports' playoff picture page* (the conference standings page on NFL.com are usually not accurate on this issue because they normally do not sort them by ALL the tiebreaking rules until the end of the season).

Because of the complexities of the tiebreaking rules, anything that is notverifiable may be reverted on grounds oforiginal research. The footnotes listing the tiebreakers are currently displayed using the "lower-alpha" predefined footnote group (seeWP:EXPLNOTE).

To use the update on any article, insert:

{{2014 AFC standings}}

To highlight the Denver Broncos, insert:

{{2014 AFC standings|team=DEN}}

The following are the codes for the teams in the AFC:

  • BAL - Baltimore Ravens
  • BUF - Buffalo Bills
  • CIN - Cincinnati Bengals
  • CLE - Cleveland Browns
  • DEN - Denver Broncos
  • HOU - Houston Texans
  • IND - Indianapolis Colts
  • JAX - Jacksonville Jaguars
  • KC - Kansas City Chiefs
  • MIA - Miami Dolphins
  • NE - New England Patriots
  • NYJ - New York Jets
  • OAK - Oakland Raiders
  • PIT - Pittsburgh Steelers
  • SD - San Diego Chargers
  • TEN - Tennessee Titans
