Teddy Cobeña Loor (born 16 April 1973)[1] is a figurative expressionist sculptor with a surrealist component. He lives inBarcelona.
He was born inPortoviejo, the son of David Cobeña Vinces and Judith Loor Rodríguez.[1] In his adolescence, he was interested in the study ofanatomy and had in the family bookcase a biography ofLeonardo da Vinci. He began his studies of medicine inGuayaquil and ends his formation inBarcelona as aradiologist and inpreventive medicine;[2][3] there he begins at the same time a formation in sculpture atMassana School [ca],Barcelona Academy of Art [ca] andFlorence Academy of Art.[3]
His bronze work "The dreams" is in the Palazzo Panciatichi inFlorence,[4][5][6] at themuseum of the government ofTuscany (Italy) since June 2013.
In November 2016 and 2018[7] he received the international sculpture awards "Aigle de Bronze" and "Villa de Nice" inFrance,[8][9][10] on the occasion of the 28th "Aigle de Nice" Fine Arts Exhibition.
In the opening of the exhibitionRenaissance inRome (2015) he referred to the positive sensations when seeing, touching or hearing anartwork assensorrealism,[11] a word that has been used in some art platforms andexhibitions.[12][13][14][15] the most important of these has been inJapan where theHyogo Government awarded him with the International Art Prize in June 2017.[15]
His work is characteristically figurative, initially influenced byJean-Baptista Carpeaux and later by the dalinian surrealism.[16] In most of his sculptures theexpressionist style and alsosurrealism is noted.[2]
He combines thepatinas in many of his bronze sculptures resulting in a range ofcolors.[17][5][18]
