Ted Evetts (born 3 August 1997) is an Englishdarts player who competes inProfessional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He is a formerWorld Youth champion, having won the2021 PDC World Youth Championship. During his youth career, he won a total of 14PDC Development Tours, making him one of the most successful players in the history of the PDC's youth system.^[2] He has competed at fourPDC World Championships, most notably losing to female playerFallon Sherrock in the first round of the2020 event.

Career

After competing on the PDC Development Tour in 2014 and 2015, Evetts gained aPDC Tour Card on the second day of2016 Q-School.^[3] Evetts was a qualifier for the2016 Grand Slam of Darts, which was his first televised event.^[4] He lost all of three of his group games.^[5]

Evetts went on to hit the firstnine-dart finish on the2017 PDC Pro Tour. He qualified for the2018 PDC World Darts Championship, losing in the first round toGerwyn Price.

Evetts won his firstPDC World Championship match in the first round of the2019 edition when he defeatedSimon Stevenson 3–0. He lost 0–3 toAdrian Lewis in the next round. Evetts reached his first senior quarter-final at the2019 German Darts Grand Prix. He beat Mark Wilson,Jonny Clayton andRicky Evans before losing to eventual winnerMichael van Gerwen 6–5.^[6]^[7]

On 17 December 2019, Evetts lost toFallon Sherrock at the2020 PDC World Darts Championship in the first round. This was the first time a woman won at the PDC World Championship, and Evetts was praised by the presenting team and on social media for his gracious reaction.^[8]

At the age of 24, Evetts won the2021 PDC World Youth Championship after defeatingNathan Rafferty 6–4 in the final. It was his seventh and final year competing in the event before exceeding the age limit.^[2]^[9] He entered the2022 PDC World Championship in need of a minimum of two wins to keep his Tour Card,^[10] but suffered a 3–1 loss toJim Williams in the first round.^[11] He regained his Tour Card at2022 Q-School.^[12]

Evetts lost his Tour Card at the end of 2023. He reached the quarter-finals ofPlayers Championship 24 on the2024 PDC Pro Tour as a reserve player, where he was beaten byStephen Bunting in a deciding leg.^[13] In 2025, Evetts won his thirdPDC Challenge Tour title by defeatingMichael Unterbuchner 5–1 in the final ofevent nine.^[14] He finished third on the2025 Challenge Tour Order of Merit ranking, which secured him qualification for the2026 PDC World Championship.^[15]

Personal life

Evetts was the subject of a PDC documentary titledTed Evetts - On the Other Side of History, released in July 2021, in which he was interviewed about his career and his loss toFallon Sherrock at the2020 PDC World Championship. He praised Sherrock, who he had known for years prior to the match. He also shed light on the abuse he received on social media in the aftermath of the defeat, recounting that he "must have had probably well over 1,000 messages of pure hate".^[16]^[17]

Outside of darts, Evetts is a qualified chef.^[9]
