Tecuci (Romanian pronunciation:[teˈkutʃʲ]) is acity inGalați County,Romania, in the historical region ofWestern Moldavia. It is situated among wooded hills, on the right bank of theBârlad River, and at the junction of railways fromGalați,Bârlad, andMărășești.
The area neighboring Tecuci was the scene of a fierce battle in 1476 betweenMoldavian PrinceStephen the Great and theOttomans.[3]
Under theKingdom of Romania, it was the residence of the now-defunctTecuci County.[3]
The city was famous[when?] for its canned food factories, which preserve vegetables, fruit and meat, as well as for itsmustard factories.
