Chemical compound

Technetium(VII) sulfide is a binaryinorganic chemical compound oftechnetium metal andsulfur with the chemical formulaTc2S7.[1][2][3][4]

Synthesis

[edit]

Passinghydrogen sulfide through acidic solutions of pertechnetates:[5][6][7]

2KTcO4 + 7H2S + 2HCl → Tc2S7↓ + 2KCl + 8H2O
2NH4TcO4 + 7H2S + 2HCl → Tc2S7↓ + 2NH4Cl + 8H2O

Chemical properties

[edit]

It is restored by hydrogen at 1000 °C:

Tc2S7 + 7H2 → 2Tc + 7H2S
