Tazeh Shahr (Persian:تازه شهر)[a] historically known asKuhnashahir,[5] is a city in theCentral District ofSalmas County,West Azerbaijan province,Iran.

The city is populated by ethnicAzerbaijanis who followShia Islam.[6]

Population

At the time of the 2006 National Census, the city's population was 8,216 in 1,783 households.[7] The following census in 2011 counted 8,864 people in 2,255 households.[8] The 2016 census measured the population of the city as 8,629 people in 2,385 households.[3]

The city sustained damage in the1930 Salmas earthquake.
