Tayru (Arabic:طيرو) is a village in northwesternSyria, administratively part of theTartus Governorate, located northeast ofTartus and just east of theMediterranean town ofBaniyas. Nearby localities includeBustan al-Hamam andal-Annazeh to the east,al-Qadmus andKaff al-Jaa to the southeast,al-Qamsiyah,al-Baydah andMaten al-Sahel to the south. According to theSyria Central Bureau of Statistics, Tayru had a population of 838 in the 2004 census.[1] Its inhabitants are predominantlyAlawites.[2]
