Tatsuji Nojima (野島 達司,Nojima Tatsuji, born October 13, 1998)[1] is a Japanese visual effects artist andcompositor.[2]

Life and career

Nojima was born on October 13, 1998,[1] inSuginami,Tokyo, Japan.[2] In his childhood, Nojima was fascinated byBack to the Future andPirates of the Caribbean, which sparked his interest in visual effects.[2] He began his career during his third year at high school in 2016, working as the motion graphic designer onNoboru Iguchi'sSlavemen (released in 2017).[3][4] In April 2019, he became a full-time employee atShirogumi.[1]

He has created the visual effects forOpening Night,[5]Sugiteike, Entai 10-dai (both 2017),[6]Ghost Squad,[7]Shōjo Pikaresuku (both 2018),[8] andAstral Abnormal Suzuki (2019).[9] He also made the ocean simulation sequences inGodzilla Minus One (2023).[2] For the film, he became one of the four recipients (the other three beingvisual effects supervisorTakashi Yamazaki, visual effects directorKiyoko Shibuya, and CG directorMasaki Takahashi) of theAcademy Award for Best Visual Effects at the96th Academy Awards.[10][11][12]
