Should we include the vice president?

[edit]

@HurricaneEdgar: Should we include the vice president (currently vacant) in the infobox? I just want to perform constructive edits to this article based on the consensus.RyanW1995 (talk)10:51, 31 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I think it should be added and noted as vacant since 8 December 2024

Second Syrian transitional governmentSyrian Transitional GovernmentSyrian Transitional Government – see talk page "Why is this second?".RamiPat (talk)09:09, 10 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

This may be a complicated one but I did my best.
To ensure clarity, I will refer to the government formed on 10 December 2024—referred to on Wikipedia as the "First Syrian transitional government"—as the "December government.".
And the government formed on 29 March 2025—referred to on Wikipedia as the "Second Syrian transitional government"—as the "March government."
It appears that Wikipedia is the only platforms (or one of the few) that refers to the March government as the "Second" transitional government.
Upon reviewing multiple sources, it seems like many described the December government as a "transitional government". However, outlets such asSyria TV ,[1] CNN,[2][a] and Euronews,[3][b] referred to the March government as "Syria’s first government post-Assad" or "Syria's first transitional government".
Additionally, during the swearing-in ceremony of the March government, display screens at the presidential palace in Damascus featured short biographies of the new ministers.[4] These biographies described those who had previously served in the December government as having held their roles in a "caretaker government" formed after the fall of the Assad regime (likeAbu Qasra,al-Shaibani,Khattab, andal-Bashir himself. It said "حكومة تصريف الأعمال" (English:Caretaker government).
I think "Mohammed al-Bashir caretaker government" or "Al-Bashir caretaker government" serves good to clarify its role. I did not suggest "Mohammed al-Bashir Government" because it may cause confusion with his government in theSyrian Salvation Government.

Support I support the renaming of the December government and the March government to Syrian caretaker government and Syrian transitional government, respectively.RyanW1995 (talk)14:14, 12 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If we change the name we should call the December-March government the ‘Syrian caretaker government’ or something like that.Jobfr (talk)10:42, 10 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yes I suggested that in there as wellRamiPat (talk)11:23, 10 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support moving the disambiguation page to "Syrian transitional government (disambiguation)", this page to "Syrian transitional government" (supporting lowercased t and g), and moving the first Syrian transitional government page to "Syrian caretaker government". It is more organized that way.🗽Freedoxm🗽(talk·contribs)19:24, 10 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Support renaming the incumbent administration to theSyrian transitional government (removing "second")
But about the December government I would rename it to theMohammed al-Bashir government to maintain consistency with previous Syrian governments. I also suggest dropping the "caretaker" label as it's superfluous.Tahomaru (talk)19:20, 11 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
But wouldn't that cause confusion as he also headed a government during the times theSyrian Salvation Government?RamiPat (talk)16:53, 12 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Support per nom (and even if this isn't renamed to Syrian Transitional Government, the current name should be changed anyway because ofWP:NOR).Asclepias tuberosa (talk)20:10, 17 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Notes

  1. ^Called the December government as "Interim Government", which if used on Wikipedia may cause confusion with theSyrian Interim Government.

Post Closure Move

[edit]

I would like to request the page move to "Syrian transitional government" (with lowercase "t" and "g") in accordance withMOS:CAPS. I also request that the current disambiguation page be deleted to allow this move.HurricaneEdgar09:51, 19 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
