The text says that the book was released in 1973. Later on it is stated that a Fiftieth Anniversary Hardcover "Commemorative Edition" was released in 2013. The math doesn't add up on this. Although his wonderful adventure was more about freedom and self-fulfillment than construction, having owned cabins myself, he should have made stone footers. The first course of logs should be above the snow line.
