Kyrgyzstan

[edit]

I removed Kyrgyzstan part, since this kind of wrestling is unknown in Kyrgyz Republic and notpopular as stated, I myself Kyrgyz and know this and the source presented is in farsi so i cannotcheck this statement. The only popular kind of wrestling among Kyrgyz people, besides mainstreamstyles, is traditional Kuresh.—Precedingunsigned comment added byTorebay (talkcontribs)19:13, 25 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

removed some unsourced hype from intro

4,000 years, eh? Funny, the first mention of the earliest Iranian tribes dates to some 2,800 years ago.dab(𒁳)10:52, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

About 2000 years before that to the mid 2nd millennium BC per the Wikipedia article on that topic:Iranian peoples2600:1702:6590:E750:ED64:C378:51CB:340D (talk)11:36, 9 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Hashem-2-1.jpg

[edit]

Image:Hashem-2-1.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used underfair use but there is noexplanation or rationale as to why its use inthis Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to theboilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent withfair use.

Please go tothe image description page and edit it to include afair use rationale. Using one of the templates atWikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described oncriteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at theMedia copyright questions page. Thank you.

Image copyright problem with Image:International Zurkhaneh Sports Federation.JPG

[edit]

The imageImage:International Zurkhaneh Sports Federation.JPG is used in this article under a claim offair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets therequirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have anexplanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is anon-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

This is an automated notice byFairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, seeWikipedia:Media copyright questions. --03:15, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image wars

[edit]

Two public domain photos relating to this wrestling style have been removed without proper rationale:File:Razaz01.jpg andFile:Antoin Sevruguin zoorkhaneh.jpg. In their place we keep getting this addedFile:International Zurkhaneh Sports Federation.JPG which is about a gym - a distinct topic from the sport ofVarzesh-e Pahlavani. It really shouldn't be the primary image for the article. Can we stop removing valid images from this sport please?Hutcher (talk)17:30, 13 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • I have already explained the rational on your talk page, whether you like it or not. Now, we can find some modern images of this art, or we can keep including images from the 19th century that have little connection to how this art is currently practiced in the modern world. The Scythian20:19, 13 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Caption text below the picture.

[edit]

This is the picture of Pahlevan Haj Mostapha Tousi (Iranian) and not some Indian pehlvan holding Indian Clubs!!!I edited/corrected it.

everybody who has practiced Varzesh Pahlevani recognizes this picture of Haj Mostapha Tousi!— Precedingunsigned comment added by116.48.159.99 (talk)08:49, 16 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

My mistake, I forgot to correct the caption after I copied the template from the pehlwani article.Morinae (talk)09:30, 22 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Submissions?

[edit]

I keep seeing the claim that koshti pahlevani is a submission wrestling style, but haven't found a single reliable source. And it keeps getting repeated without credible explanation. The IZSF rules don't use submission as a winning condition and actually forbid "pulling fingers or twisting joints, in the opposite direction", and "seizing, pressing or hitting the sensitive limbs of the opponent body which will be led to the opponents heavy injury that stop him of continuing the competition." So that effectively disqualifies every submission hold. The footage I've seen of matches also don't have any submission attempts.Spagooder (talk)22:39, 3 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Competition

[edit]

The article describes a form of training and display but not competition. Since this is a sport included in the Islamic Solidarity Games, there is presumably a competitive variety. How does that workBill (talk)20:57, 25 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
