This is insufficient. The net-snmp site is awfull and the documentation is almost incomprehensible. We still need a good explanation of what it is and how it works.

Net-SNMP is NOT a protocol. Thus, it should not be listed under "application layer protocols". That is, Net-SNMP is a suite of software.
