The article claims that Edge is available for Linux, but when I go tohttps://www.microsoft.com/en-us/edge on a linux PC, it says "Not supported for Linux". It lists downloads for Windows, MacOS, iOS and Android and that is all. The cited refs all seem to be from the beta and "coming soon" stage. The version history chart for the Chromium-based Edge seems to indicate that no version is currently supported, but the text and infobox seem to indicate that at least one does exist. --Beland (talk)23:05, 29 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Half of the article are informations about the EdgeHTML-based Edge that mixed with information of the current Chromium Edge which I think will be confusing for layman. It had been a year or two since the Chromium Edge replaced the old EdgeHTML Edge so either the article needs to be clean up for its information or split the article for better clarity. If the page being split I recommend that the current page retains as Chromium based Edge as it is the latest version. ~Limyx826 (talk)07:47, 30 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I tried mitigating the problem by rewriting the article heading to further emphasize the difference of the two Edges. I personally think that moving most of information regarding the “Edge Legacy” towards its own section would be enough.Jothefiredragon (talk)07:46, 1 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Agree: Edge Legacy is a different browser and it would help balance the size of this article. This would allow more room for the development, features, and reception of each version. Disagree Although they are two separate and distinct versions, they are still the same base product. As an example of my point: Human lives are long and go through several phases. We don't split an individual's life up into separate articles simply because they started a new career or advanced into a new phase of their life. Oppose I agree withSWDG andJothefiredragon comments, we don't need two separate articles to describe the current Edge and Legacy Edge, if we work on the article, it is easy to make a clear distinction between the current and former which both have the same name, and showing both of the logos would also help in differentiating the two. General people out there will only look at the front side, they see "Microsoft Edge as Microsoft Edge", not "it's engine was Edge HTML and now it's Chromium" which is a bit more on the technical side of things. I must also note, upon reading the article, I'm able to see a distinction between the two presented clearly, I'm not sure where we are getting the "confusing for layman", after all we have to read what is written in order to understand, if you don't read the article properly, you won't see the distinction, right?Steven (Editor) (talk)22:48, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose: as stated by others, there is no need to split this up. It just requires work to clarify what the article is talking about, but does not warrant a split. Agree I agree withFusionSub andAsyncadr. EdgeHTML and Chromium arenot related except for being browser engines. They show pages from HTML, CSS and JS, but they aren't very similar. Thus, MSEdge Legacy, and the new MSEdge, are completely different and should have different pages, andMicrosoft Edge should be an intersection of sorts, between a general information page, MSEdge w/ EdgeHTML, and MSEdge w/ Chromium.User1234567890^2 (talk)16:26, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
4 disagreeing so far, but I still can't find sufficient reasoning to warrant a separate article, the use of headings is a great idea to separate the two within the article and what I wrote in my opposing comments above along with the other opposing comments. Also if we were to have a separate article, what more info could be added knowing the Legacy has been out of support and forcibly removed and replaced with the Chromium version via updates, and new machines coming with the new version by default, starting back in 2021? According to forums online, people have been trying different workarounds to get the Legacy Edge to work to no avail and it exiting immediately upon launchingSteven (Editor) (talk)09:22, 7 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

No one seems committed to keeping the current version data in Wikidata. It's about a month out of date, and who updates it doesn't seem to be consistent.
