Haha, cool to see this as an article. Review coming shortly.JOEBRO6410:37, 6 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • I think the first paragraph needs some tightening—it's got a few run-ons and sentences that are kind of loaded without much time for the reader to breathe. I also don't think it really does a good job summarizing precisely who Master Handis. Here's what I'd propose:
Master Hand is acharacter created by the Japanese game designerMasahiro Sakurai. He first appeared inNintendo'sSuper Smash Bros. (1999) as thefinal boss. Master Hand is a floating right-hand glove that the player battles in everySuper Smash Bros. game'ssingle-player game modes. His left-hand counterpart,Crazy Hand, was introduced inSuper Smash Bros. Melee (2001).Xander Mobus has voiced him sinceSuper Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS andWii U (2014).
Let me know what you think of this.
I used this and ran with it a bit. What do you think?
  • "He has received generally positive reception." "Received reception" is pretty clunky writing—a reception is, by definition, something that is received. I think you'd be better off saying "Video game journalists have praised Master Hand for..." (insert whatever he's been praised for)
    • Fixed
  • There's a{{Who}} tag in the second sentence. I think you can get around it by being a bit more general: "He has also been the subject of analysis, with multiple authors suggesting that he represents various figures, including the player and the game's creators." → "He has been the subject of analysis as to what he represents, with theories positing him as the player or developers, among others"

Appearances
  • In general, I think you should add years in parentheticals next to each game, as it helps add context. e.g.Super Smash Bros. (1999),Super Smash Bros. Melee (2001), etc.
  • you can remove every instance of "called" in the second paragraph. There's usually no need to introduce titles with words like "called", "titled", etc.—the sentence makes just as much sense without it.

Concept and design
  • Any commentary on how his design has changed between games?
  • I think the sentences "Master Hand is a floating gloved right hand capable of doing multiple types of attacks, including shooting bullets from his finger, creating lasers, and other attack types" and "He is typically fought on the stage Final Destination, a flat plane set in space and featured in everySuper Smash Bros. game" should be moved to the appearances section. I think introducing who Master Hand and what role he plays should come before everything else, as that's what the rest of the article's information is built on.
Reception
  • I have some quibbles with the writing here but it's pretty basic copyediting stuff. I'll do a CE pass once my all comments have been addressed as I think it'll be fairly uncontroversial.

References
  • Ref. 1: I think its use is probably fine in this context, but if you're thinking of taking this to FAC,Screen Rant isn't the strongest source. Are there any other references to use for the statements it's currently being cited for? TheSmash 64 intro andBrawl story reveal don't sound like things that'd be too hard to find alternate referencing for.
I'll give it a looksie to see if there is any better sources
I just removed it and used theInvenGlobal source that was already in there, it basically covers everything about Master Hand. I only added theScreen Rant source to add a bit more variety in coverage. But trust me when I say, at least on the English side of the web, there is very little on the role of Master Hand inBrawl's story.CaptainGalaxy19:36, 6 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Ref. 7: Only web citation to include a publisher so I'd recommend removing it (unless you want to add publishers to every other one, lol)
Fixed (I do NOT want to add a publisher to all of them lol)
  • Ref. 16: I assume this isGamesTM'sKill the Boss? Ref looks incomplete, no publication date, author, etc
Honestly? I haveno idea this information. Captain Galaxy also looked into it, but we can't figure out what the publisher is.
  • Ref. 17: This is a 184-page book, so page numbers would be helpful
  • Ref. 21: Same thing here. If you're just going off of what you see in the GBooks search I recommend reaching out atWP:RX, you should get access to the actual thing fairly quickly.
Problem with 17 and 21 is that there aren't page numbers listed. Would you be find with the chapter being cited? If not chapter (haven't checked if 17 has a chapter title), would a quote be acceptable to help direct people to the text?
  • Spotchecked references 4, 6, 9, 12, 15, and 18. All checked out, though ref. 9 says Kirby gains hisSmash moveset rather than movesbased on hisSmash moveset, which I think one could argue is a little different.

JOEBRO6411:02, 6 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

  • Yeah, I'll need to see if I can find a source that specifies that the moveset is a portion of it (you only get the B moves) Oh wait, on watching a video, it's more the case that Kirby gets certain moves from his moveset. Maybe I'll just say that Kirby gets abilities from hisSuper Smash Bros. moveset, which doesn't necessarily mean all. -Cukie Gherkin (talk)15:25, 6 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Misc.
  • Hit ctrl+F and search for "the game's" or "of the game", you'll find in 99% of cases you can remove "game" without impacting the readability of the sentence. e.g. "It is eventually revealed that he is under the control of thegame's true antagonist, Tabuu"

JOEBRO6414:05, 11 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Cukie Gherkin: done. Will do a CE pass once you've responded/addressed everything then I think we'll be good to goJOEBRO6414:05, 11 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I believe I've addressed everything thus far, except the issue of page numbers for ref 21.@Joebro64:Cukie Gherkin (talk)10:50, 18 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
