Isn't it strange that the tribes inhabiting Eastern Europe were called Getae (among others) by the Greeks, similar to how the Asian tribes were called Thyssagetae and Massagetae? What's more, the Massagetae were apparently absorbed by a tribe\ people called the Dahae, which sounds awfully similar to Dacia (in some languages Dacians are called Daki or Daci). Since the Getae and the Dacians have had a close relationship, and the Massagetae and the Dahae did as well, it feels more than just a coincidence. Either the Greeks just called all northern and eastern tribes a variety of '-getae' (which is unlikely, since we know that they knew of the Phygians, Indians, and so on, whom they didn't called '-getae' of any kind), or the '-getae' tribes actually spread much farther (which is possible, since Iranic peoples have indeed spread all around the Black Sea and beyond at the time). What's more, this could explain the apparent cultural similarities between the Iranic peoples (the aforementioned Phygians, as well as the Scythians) and the Thracian peoples (which the Getae and the Dacians were described to be part of).
