birthplace

[edit]

His birthplace is given asTheodosiopolis, which redirects to the ancient city ofArpos. Does anyone know where he was actually born, and what that place is called today?Jd271822:01, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Theodosiopolis is a name ofApros (corrected!) in Thrace, but much more commonly, it refers to modernErzurum, which is what I changed the redirect to. --Macrakis06:02, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

His birthplace isTosya.— Precedingunsigned comment added byGeler7167 (talkcontribs)14:16, 18 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Vafiadis or Vafeiadis?

[edit]

Vafiadis or Vafeiadis?

One of the sources, namely Britannica, has yet another version, Vafiades. Technically they are all correct as English renderings of the Greek pronunciation, but the correcttransliteration is Vafeiadis. For the sake of consisitency one commonly used form should be used.Parabellus (talk)12:02, 7 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
In this case, I will turn them all to Vafeiadis and add the two other spellings in the lead. --Greece666 (talk)14:21, 7 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
