The use of the past tense in this article is incorrect. It should all be in present tense as the game is not "dead".165.124.106.20119:54, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think it should be noted that there was a sequel to this game simply titled "Mario Teaches Typing 2." I had it when I was much younger. I remember playing the original game in the school's computer lab. The only difference I found was that the menu screen was more full in the sequel.—Precedingunsigned comment added by71.126.78.174 (talk •contribs) 13:21, April 25, 2006
I think the voice actor of mario could be Ronald B. Ruben as some mentioned but someone deleted it from the mario page. However it could be Charles Maritinet. If it is, HE MADE A VERY PATHETIC VOICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Which one is it?Frankyboy518:52, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

since literally everything the Mario head in this game says are really popular internet memes, does anyone think they should be mentioned somewhere in this article?NintendoTTTEfan2005 (talk)20:33, 5 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The article currently claims the above, which is false.Nintendo released a bunch of Donkey Kong ports in the 80s on hardware they do not own such as Atari, IBM-DOS, VIC-20.
If the claim is limited to a game with Mario (such as thesource newspaper claims) this is also false.Even ignoring the fact that Mario is present in the Donkey Kong ports listed above (he was not named at first), Nintendo releasedSuper Mario Bros. & Friends: When I Grow Up 1992/03/24 (US), 1991 (Japan) on DOS. Mario Teaches Typing came out 1992/11/13 (US), 1992/03/08 (Japan).
These games were pretty obscure in 1992 and were not advertised by Nintendo much. The newspaper source is from Scotland, where Super Mario Bros. & Friends: When I Grow Up did not come out, so it's understandable that it got this wrong.Bridgepedal (talk)13:55, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
After looking at videos ofMario Teaches Typing andMario Teaches Typing 2, I found that the two appear to be very similar, and at their core, the same software. The major differences the sequel has are the start menu design, the addition of cut scenes, and a special mode with an onscreen typewriter. The types of exercises and their visual design are basically the same though.
I haven't done as much research for the sequel as for the original, so I'm not 100% certain there isn't much out there, but what I've seen doesn't indicate there's enough to flesh out the article more than Start or C-level. Given the amount of overlap and limited information on the sequel, I think merging Mario Teaches Typing 2 to this article would be for the best. Thoughts?
