Change: His twelve murals, such as Columbus Coming Ashore, were covered in January, 2019, following an announcement by the president of the Notre Dame that the action was being taken because the artworks "depict Native Americans in stereotypical submissive poses before white European explorers... ."[5]
Explanation of issue: Murals are not currently covered, but plan to be in 2022 once space is cleared on the second floor for an exhibition on the work.
There are several issues preventing this request from being implemented:
Because of a choice of phrases by the South Bend Tribune author, it's not entirely clear if the murals aretemporarily covered orpermanently covered. The author (Allie Kirkman) uses words that imply that they are bothcovered andnot covered. (e.g., " The murals will otherwise be covered in fabric." and "The Ph.D. student was disappointed as the painted murals depicting the life and travels of Italian explorer Christopher Columbus remained on display in a second-floor hallway of the university’s Main Building.")
The referenceto be removed has not been included with the request (according to the request, ref note #5).This reference is important to check because it, purportedly, confirms that the murals are covered.
If the murals are to be covered in the future, then discussing it as such would run counter to Wikipedia not publishing information which is to take place in the future, perWP:NOTACRYSTALBALL.
