"Lotus position," while it may be the common epithet for thepadmasana in the Anglophone, is not the proper term for theasana (and in factasana does not itself exactly translate to "position"; it is better translated as "sitting" or "seat," though we usually go with "position" due to the reception of Yoga as physical exercise in the West).Padmasana should be the title of the page, and "Lotus position" should redirect to it.198.7.242.167 (talk)15:48, 21 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the thoughts. Wikipedia always uses the most usual term for a concept, perWP:COMMONNAME, since this is English Wikipedia, so the redirect goes correctly in the opposite direction. The senses of the word "asana" are discussed elsewhere, but in terms of this as a sitting posture, a word like "pose", "posture", or "position" is entirely apposite.Chiswick Chap (talk)17:32, 21 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
