This article together withFrench livre and, possibly,livre parisis need consolidating. The French livre article should contain an overview of the French currencies called livre, whilst this article should only deal with issues specific to the livre tournois, a term not used on French currency after 1720. I don't agree. It seems to me that when people refer to "livre", even from 1720 to 1789, what they are essentially referring to is the "livre tournois", either as money of account or as used (briefly) on paper money. This is certainly true in most French dictionaries on the early modern period and it is for this reason thatlivre redirects here. I was surprised to see the French livre article (created in January), since the article livre tournois had been here for so long, so I made agood faith attempt to bring both articles into harmony without overlaps and to correct errors (in reverting French livre back, you eliminated additions such as the fact that the livre parisis is divided into 15 deniers). I guess if you want to consolidate, you could perhaps move everything toFrench livre with redirects, or perhaps move relevant sections to a general article on the "Monetary system of pre-revolutionary France". --NYArtsnWords17:11, 18 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I realised that reverting might be losing some bits of information which need reinstating but the key was to return to the standard form for currency articles. Thelivre tournois andlivre parisis were variants of the French livre and ought to be explained as such. The term livre tournois lived on beyond its legal existence and the presence of the article livre tournois which deals with more than just the livre tournois was an anomoly which needed fixing. I will make the consolidation myself and then look forward to edits from others to hone it down. Dove195019:29, 3 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
