Like-minded 10 PartiesUnited Bangladesh AllianceUnited Bangladesh Alliance – official name and to avoid move clashA$ianeditorz (talk) 10:27, 19 January 2026 (UTC)— Relisting. HundredVisionsAndRevisions (talk) 17:41, 26 January 2026 (UTC)— Relisting. TarnishedPathtalk03:03, 4 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose firstly, not a common name, secondly, not a single info about new name or even expansion is stated in the article. Add adequate info with reliable sources first, then propose a name change.Ahammed Saad (talk)16:46, 19 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
If you can provide some reliable sources, I willsupport your proposal.Charles Essie (talk)17:18, 19 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose There is no reliable source available in internet to support that statement. Name of the alliance is not "United Bangladesh Alliance".Nafis Fuad Ayon (talk)18:00, 19 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Asianeditorz Could you give some reliable source for your claim? And remember it isWP:COMMONNAME that matters most in Wikipedia, not official name.Mehedi Abedin06:31, 20 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Yepp! I think it's not aWP:COMMONNAME.A$ianeditorz (talk)07:00, 20 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Where'sWP:RELY to back your claim?HamadInternal (talk)14:42, 20 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strong Oppose: Icouldn't find any sources that use the term "United Bangladesh Alliance". Found a Bengali source btw. ByDhaka Mail, quite reliable.link.
Let me translate it: The title:"'11 party electoral unity' debuts under the slogan 'United Bangladesh'".
And again it's written"Ahead of the upcoming national elections, the 11 party alliance led by Jamaat-e-Islami is set to make its debut under the slogan 'United Bangladesh'. The name of the alliance has been finalized as '11 Party Electoral Unity'".
So, it's clear that "United Bangladesh" is likely a slogan/motto, not the alliance name.10-Party Electoral Unity sounds good though...
Can we have aWP:SNOW close?Raihanur (talk)08:28, 20 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Strongly Support “United Bangladesh”, as this is the official and publicly used name of the alliance.
The alliance was formally announced under the banner United Bangladesh, which is reflected consistently in its public presence. There is an official Facebook page and Facebook group using this name, as well as an official website titled United Bangladesh, all indicating that this is the recognised and preferred designation of the alliance.
The term “Like-minded 10 parties” appears to have been an informal or provisional label used before the alliance’s final formation and naming. It does not represent the alliance’s established identity and is not used in its official communications.
Moreover, the description “like-minded” is conceptually misleading. The alliance includes parties ranging from far right-wing to left-wing ideologies, making ideological uniformity implausible. As such, “like-minded” contradicts the actual political dynamics of the coalition.
For reasons of accuracy, neutrality, and consistency with reliable self-identification, United Bangladesh should be adopted as the article title.Eastiak shoron (talk)13:13, 20 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
When saying "publicly used name of the alliance", you should show some RELIABLE sources that support your claim.Raihanur (talk)15:13, 20 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

@Asianeditorz Do you have an opinion on a different name now?Greatder (talk)13:14, 9 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
why?A$ianeditorz (talk)15:50, 9 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
It is widely being referred to as 11-party alliance currently.newsGreatder (talk)19:37, 9 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I propose speedy closure, cause the election is quite near.Ahammed Saad (talk)06:31, 10 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose and snow close, I'd think that it'd be closed after unanimous opposition.Sahib-e-Qiran, He Who is Otherwise Known as ‪EasternShah‬06:41, 10 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

The lead of the article says this alliance is a big tent one. But all of the parties are involved in centre right to far right politics.

[edit]

I think we should discuss whether it would be more appropriate to call the alliance "consisting of right leaning parties of Bangladesh"Hasin123 (talk)13:32, 29 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

According to theBig tent article, abig tent party, or catch-all party, is a political party having members covering a broad spectrum of beliefs. So the alliance is always big tent, consisting of centre, centre-right, right-wing and far-right parties. And in case of the lead, I oppose adding "right-leaning" here, because the mainstream media hardly use the term for the alliance.Ahammed Saad (talk)16:31, 29 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Change Name of Page

[edit]

Why name of the page is still Like-minded 10 parties, while there are 11 parties in the coalition?Abubakar Saif (talk)09:16, 1 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

After the requested move is closed, then we shall move it to 11 Party Alliance. It's not allowed to move a page undergoing a request move discussion.Ahammed Saad (talk)08:37, 2 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Ahammed Saad I think it should be moved now.Greatder (talk)03:27, 11 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
